Guy Mitchell House
402 West Goodwin Avenue

Architect Sam H. Dixon designed this two and a half story dwelling for Guy and Anna Egg Mitchell. Construction began in September of 1915 on the former site of the H. D. Sullivan house. With great finesse, Mr. Dixon delivered an outstanding example of Georgian Revival and Palladian architecture for the Mitchell's. Fred Urban built the residence at a cost of $5,780. The south facade of the house is divided into three bays, the center of which displays the entry porch with curved roof, a detail repeated in the two dormers. Doric columns, grouped in threes, support the entrance porch. A Palladian window is centered
above the entry.

Mitchell served as county judge of Jackson County from 1905 to 1910. After that, the family moved to Victoria where he served as District Attorney for the 24th Judicial District from 1910 to 1914. He passed away on September 10, 1929, after a lengthy illness.
